When I First Saw You #33

February 9, 2017
When I First Saw You, WIFSY for short, is an original monthly feature here on Sailing Through Books that consists of writing a made-up synopsis for a book based on its cover and title only. Essentially judging a book by its cover, yes.

Hello cupcakes!
How are you this fine evening? Or is it morning where you are? Regardless, I hope everything is going well! This month's covers were all pretty good looking, but I managed to pick only one. Here they are!

Hi cupcakes!

How are you doing on this fine Saturday? I know, I know, once again I'm late for WIFSY and I have no valid excuse beside the fact that I waited to the last minute to write this post. Hopefully, you'll find in your heart to forgive me and we can move on to the post. Yeah? Alright!

Where do I even start with this book?

Let's start here. Let's start by saying that when I read the synopsis for Johnny and Jamaal, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Yes, because this book isn't one you pick up if you're looking for a fun read, or a relaxed afternoon. This book has a message, a pretty damn important one, a pretty damn touchy one too, and it demands attention.
To put it simply, this book is about the conflicts about Blacks and Whites in America, specifically in the United States.

Well hello there!
It's been so long since the last time we spoke! I love what you did with your hair! And is that a new shirt? Lovely!

My apologies for the lateness of this WIFSY post (again), but I'm here now so let's not waste any more time and jump right into it!
The choices this month were all really interesting and I had a hard time picking one, but I finally decided to go with Beautiful Broken Girls.

I'm slacking, I know. And I want to get back to blogging so badly! Problem is, I don't want to share with you guys some quick, shitty post simply for the sake of sharing something. I want to write good reviews, I want to write interesting discussion posts, and right now, I'm having trouble figuring out how to do that amidst everything else.

But today, although a day late I admit, is the second Thursday of the month, which means it's time for WIFSY!

Here were the choices this month, and I have to say I had a hard time picking a cover because they all look so interesting!
