When I First Saw You #21

April 28, 2016

What is When I First Saw You?

When I First Saw You, or WIFSY for short, is a weekly meme created here on Sailing Through Books and co-hosted by Izel from A Bookish Flower and yours truly. It consists of sharing a first impressions of a book in the form of a made-up synopsis, so basically judging a book by it's cover yes.

How does it work?

Every week, a new cover is chosen and is shared here at the bottom of the page. You write a synopsis for this book with the cover and title as your only guide. Then, you compare it to the real synopsis and laugh at how off you were or congratulate yourself on your amazing deduction skills!
You are free to post any day of the week, but the weekly WIFSY post will be up every Thursday with a link up so you can share your take on the week's cover.

Hi guys! How are you today? I'm good thanks for asking! In the past week, I've finished two books which were really good (reviews coming soon) and I started to get back into blogging, so I'm really happy about that! School wise, it's been a bit hectic, but what can you do right? I just take it one thing at a time and do my best; it's almost over anyway!

This is the last WIFSY for April, so make sure to enter our giveaway to win one of the four books featured this month!

Let's get into it!

Title: Every exquisite thing
Author: Metthew Quick
Publisher: Little Brown Books for Young Readers
Release date: May 31st 2016

My made-up synopsis

When you're thirteen, things are supposed to be easy right? Except, they never are. For Boby, the struggle is real and ninth grade is going harder than he expected.

Bobby has always been good in school and very mature for his age. He's one of the few chosen ones who actually enjoy maths and he's a wiz in science. But being those things don't make you cool, far from it. Boby has a single virtual friend that lives on the other side of the planet and he's never had a girlfriend, which is a good thing for him because girls are one of the few things he can't seem to figure out.

When Boby is forced to take theater and is given one of the main roles in the school play, he has no choice but to seek the help of Chrissy, the leader of the drama club.

Chrissy is the complete opposite of Boby and to everyone's surprise including Boby's, she seems to enjoy his company. With her, Boby will learn that there is more to life than school and that he should, just like Chrissy said, enjoy life before it gets too complicated; before it's too .

A story of self-discovery and acceptance, and how one friend can make all the difference in the world.

The real deal

Nanette O'Hare is an unassuming teen who has played the role of dutiful daughter, hardworking student, and star athlete for as long as she can remember. But when a beloved teacher gives her his worn copy of The Bugglegum Reaper--a mysterious, out-of-print cult classic--the rebel within Nanette awakens.

As she befriends the reclusive author, falls in love with a young troubled poet, and attempts to insert her true self into the world with wild abandon, Nanette learns the hard way that rebellion sometimes comes at a high price.

Verdict

Well, I'm not getting any better at guessing the synopsis, that's obvious! Though I had lots of fun writing mine! It actually earned a spot on my "maybe list" for stories I really want to write!

But enough about my synopsis, let's take about the real one! The real one guys! Have you read this masterpiece? Isn't it completely and absolutely amazing? I mean, don't you just want to read this book right now? I was not at all expecting something like this and frankly, I just... The feels are real and I haven't even read the thing yet!
The characters and the story line and the atmosphere, they all look A-Mazing!
